Vicki joined
the East Union staff in October
1995. Wanting to be a stay-at-home
mom, she took this part-time job
because it was close to home and mom
could be at her kid's beckoning call
in minutes. Many years later, Marlee
and Mason, Vicki's children, are
now adults. She tells us that she
works at East Union because, "I love
it! I love the people! I love the
work atmosphere." Vicki earned a
Bachelor of Science degree from
Robert Morris University majoring in
Business Information with a minor in
Math and graduated Cum Laude. She
enjoys jogging, swimming, and
bicycling with her husband, Dan. In
fact, Vicki has participated in five
(sprint) triathlons!
Getting to know
Vicki
1. Are you a
morning person or night person?
I can't wait for the
sun to rise. As a matter of fact,
people have told me that is one of
my biggest faults – I am too full of
vim and vigor at the crack of dawn.
(However, at 9pm I turn into a blob
of nothingness!)
2. What is your
favorite motto to live by?
Tom Petty has a song
that says, 'never slow down, you
never grow old.' I'm not afraid of
growing old, I just never want to
slow down! Every time I go for a
run, I thank God that my body can
still move. I pray that I can jog
until I'm at least 80-something.
3. Do you play
an instrument? If so, what?
The saying that
'ignorance is bliss' kicks in for me
when it comes to music. I have never
played an instrument nor sung in a
choir, yet I must sing loudly. I
have had my children elbow me many
times during the church service.
Especially when I sing my favorite
hymn, 'From All That Dwell Below
the Skies' (which I have nicknamed
the Al-le-lu-ia song).
4. If you were
a superhero, what would your super
power be?
I'd like to be like
Popeye. He was just an ordinary guy
living a normal life, until he chose
to eat his spinach, then watch out!
5. What TV
shows do you watch?
I've really enjoy the
Rick Sebak shows on WQED. My summer
has been based upon following the
Lincoln Highway.
6. What
different countries have you
visited?
I've traveled many
places in the USA. Other than the
states, I've been to Mexico (across
the Texas border and California
border) and Canada (Montreal, Quebec
City, Toronto, Niagra, and to Lake
Superior in Ontario).
7. Who has had
the most influence in your life?
My mom and dad!
8. If you could
have dinner with a famous person
(dead or alive) who would it be?
I'd like to have
dinner with Max Lucado. He can speak
to children as well as
intellectuals. Our conversation
would be comfortable, unpretentious,
and meaningful.
9. Describe the
perfect meal?
